Cedro Plátano

About us

Cedro Plátano is a film production company from Portugal, founded in 2013 by producer-director-editor Renata Sancho. It is mainly dedicated to the production of independent cinema (documentary or fiction) and author cinema. It is also dedicated to producing various other artistic creations such as performance, visual arts and theater.

Last month we have successfully finished the documentary film by Spanish director Amaya Sumpsi, 'Between Islands’. It had the financial support by the Portuguese Institute for Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA), as well as additional culture funds and sponsors. It is now searching for a good festival premiere.
We are also co-producing with the Spanish production company 59 en Conserva, ‘The Visit and A Secret Garden’ a film directed by Irene M. Borrego with the financial support by the Portuguese Institute for Cinema and Audiovisual (ICA) and the Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales (ICAA) (Spain), Fundación SGAE (Spain), Ayuntamiento de Madrid (Spain), Crea SGR (Spain).

Producer Renata Sancho was chosen as the Portuguese participant in 2019 edition of the Emerging Producers program (created by Ji.hlava IDFF). She was present in Torino Film Lab 2019, Cinelink Industry Days 2019, in Sarajevo Film Festival'19 and Ji.lhava Academy 2017. In these days she is living the adventure of making ´Alcofribas` - a short film fiction.

In 2019, Cedro Plátano began commercial distribution, having premiered the documentary "Almirante Reis Avenue in 3 Movements" (2018) in 3 national movie theaters.
Apart from working on production and distribuition, Cedro Plátano also provides audiovisual post-production and training/formation services.
